New Drop

The Powerful and The Powerless, Chapter 3

This new drop started with an exploration of femininity, strength and vulnerability, and developed through my research into the work of Soheila Sokhanvari and Mária Bartuszová. One idea that stayed with me was Bartuszová’s interest in the transformation of forms: how something can change through movement, perspective and interaction. I wanted to bring some of that into the garments too.

For Chapter 3, I was also thinking about transitional pieces: clothes that can move between seasons, occasions and different ways of wearing them.

For this campaign, I decided to shoot the collection myself. I wanted you to see how the pieces actually look on a regular person, rather than a model, and how they move on the body in real life.

I chose to shoot at sunrise in London, imagining the interesting light I could capture at that time of day. The styling and silhouettes were influenced by 80s tailoring: strong shapes, femininity and a little attitude.
